Good first novel by Jason, who I met in the blog world, and picked up his work at Smashwords. I liked the setting, and the Sisterhood storytelling that we went after. Coming from a guy, that takes

My reservation about the book is that it is narrated in the present tense. Perhaps it is just me, but I found this to be really cumbersome, as if my mind just couldn't get moving with it. I think it would be a much stronger work if the tense was changed. That may be a stupid comment, but hey...

All in all, Jason is a solid writer, and I enjoy his work the more I read it. He is worth checking out.

(Personally, I think The Night Walk Men is fantastic).

Jason McIntyre Thanks, Nathan, sounds like you quite liked this book! It's music to me that you say you like my work the more you read of it. I find that some authors are like that, y'know? They have a cadence that I'm not used to hearing but get accustomed to as the pages roll by. Like the Arcade Fire or Radiohead or something. Fifteen years ago there was nothing like them on the airwaves.

An interesting point about the narrative tense. When I began writing this story, I didn't even notice I wrote it this way. It just flowed out of me and I got it down on the keyboard as fast as it came. An author who previewed the book last year was the first to mention it. He said the tense was a bold choice and served the immediacy of the danger quite well, also bringing the flashbacks to the fore and making them seem more present and meaningful. So, hey, with comments like that, I kept it the way it was! :)
