** spoiler alert ** I now remember why I like James Lee Burke so much, especially his Dave Robicheaux series. His musings about mortality and the traits of men as well as his striking descriptions are unequaled. One of the first trips that my husband-to-be and I took together was to visit the land of Robecheaux where we boated on the Atchafalaya, stayed on the Bayou Teche in Breaux Bridge and dined on marvelous Cajun food.

Dave's forboding thoughts accelerate along with the frightening actions of the powerful. Sure hope this is not the end of Dave and Clete. But it is heartening to see their friendship continue.
