really liked it
Read in February, 2011

Very sad moving story. A 9 year old boy is taken to a concentration camp as the son of the Commandant and befriends a 9 year old boy behind the fence. In his naivete has no understanding of the circumstances that have placed his friend on the other side. Because of his not understanding the end and the effect on his family is tragic. What a testament to the idiocy of war and its consequences. I really want to see the movie now.

Nancy I have had this in my Netflix queue for forever, but I have been waiting to be in the mood to be able to watch a really depressing movie. Everyone I know is always criticising me for watching downer movies.

Jane This is a YA book - possibly less depressing to read than watch. I don't know - but I have decided to delete it from my Neflix queue.
