Camato's history of Ellis Island and the controversies the surrounded throughout it's use as an immigration station is fascinating, particularly in light of the views that one hears today on immigration. Many of the same arguments are made today. For those who fear that immigrants will change America, the history seems to show that the changes are predominantly for the positive.

Definitely worth reading!
