Of all the Philippa Gregory books that I have read, this is my least favorite. Possibly that is because this is mainly a story of Mary, Queen of Scots, who is not my most cherished character from the Elizabethan era. Utilizing three perspectives to tell this story aided in my being able to finish the book as I wasn't too bored with one person's account before Gregory switched to another person's view. Usually I cannot put one of Ms. Gregory's books down; unfortunately, I cannot say that about this one.
