it was amazing
bookshelves: a-must-read

** spoiler alert ** I only really picked up this book because I had run out of things to read in the fantasy section of my local Waterstones, but I'm sorry that I had not read it sooner.

What a book. I could write about how well constructed the plot is, and how the characters are well fleshed out and believable (which it is and they are), but instead I'm going to talk about the fact that Tildar managed to include a Holmesian sub-plot in his novel. As a massive Holmes fan, I'm naturally going to be excited if he shows up unexpectedly, but add Irene Adler as a police detective and John Watson doing exeriments on corpses in an attempt to bring back an (apparently) dead Holmes and I'm sold. Frankly, they could have filled in the rest of the pages with the boring bits of Twilight, and I still would have read it.

For sheer entertainment this is the top book I have read this year.
