The first half of this novel was tedious. I didn't care about Reign or Aiden/Chase. The plot was just what was expected from the last novel. Irish-Chase was more interesting than Order-Chase, but not by much; Order-Chase was a one dimensional torturing machine. Irish-Chase had little screen-time and no chance to develop; he just came into being at some point. Reign was not full of pranks and wit. She was full of pain and hopelessness.

This would have been a 2 star book without Lothare, The enemy of old, and Nix the ever-knowing. It's great that 10(-ish) books in, the world still interests me. I can't wait to read about Lothare and his bride (my bet: Fury). I still want to know more about the very slow Accession. I want to know more about Nix!
