The Lady and the Monk: Four Seasons in Kyoto
by Pico Iyer
by Pico Iyer
This Pico Iyer book is a lot more specific than most of his, as it focuses on his year in Japan rather than his usual globe-hopping travels. This is my favorite of his travel logs, for it doesn't only cover his views and experiences in living in the strange world that is Japan, but also his relationship with a young Japanese mother who befriends him. Their story is extremely sweet, innocent, and curious. Highly recommend this book!
