Deliciously creepy! In the midst of some ho-hum reading lately, this was fantastic. If you've read Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery," and enjoyed it, this is a good next step. Two sisters live with their uncle in a big house on the outskirts of a village. The rest of the family is dead. The town hates them. The language is compelling, suspenseful, lulling.
