Normally, I shy away from anything about the last of the Romanovs because the whole episode just saddens and depresses me. Nevertheless, I had heard good things about this book so when I saw this book in my local library, I decided to brave my emotions and give it a go. The speculated outcome of events by the author was interesting but I didn't really buy into it at all. It was very hard for me to continue to read it knowing that soon, I would have to read the murder scene, especially after how well the author humanized the Tsar Nicholas II and his family. Overall, if you like to read historical fiction about the Russian Royal Family, this is a good and easy read.
