Read from August 21 to 22, 2010

Helen Grant's debut was difficult to put down! The first sentence reads, "My life might have been so different, had I not been known as the girl whose grandmother exploded."

Due to the bizarre death of Pia Kolvenbach's grandmother, ten-year old Pia becomes an outcast at school, befriended only by StinkStefan.

When young girls begin to disappear, Pia believes that if she and Stefan can solve the mystery, people will stop thinking of her as the girl whose grandmother exploded and the other children will be her friends again. Their investigations lead them into potentially dangerous situations.

The only criticism I will give this book is that the author inserted German words and phrases that had to be looked up in the glossary provided at the back of the book. This was a distraction to me and I'm not certain that it added anything to the book. Other than that, it was an excellent read!
