** spoiler alert ** I really liked the story of Simon and Daphne at first. I loved Simon with all my heart. Men who have a tough childhood are one of my favorite romance hero tropes.

I really liked Daphne as well. Their story and banter and the evolution of the relationship had this all shaped up for a raving 5 star review and plenty of rereads in the future.

Alas, then Daphne goes all banshee on Simon and rapes him when he's drunk because she cannot live with the idea of not having children. This is horrid, and the worst thing is that HE ends up apologizing.

The problem is I really, really loved the rest of the book, and I seem to actively try and forget that the banshee thing happened, so I can relive the happy good times of the book.

But in the end all rape is inexcusable, so 1 star it is. It's a shame really, because Simon and Daphne deserved better.
