I've heard rave reviews about this book, but unfortunately I couldn't get into it at all. After the first chapter, I stopped reading. Not sure what didn't grab me, but it might have been because I saw the movie first and the casting of Jennifer Aniston ruined it for me.

Donna Davis I didn't see the movie, but felt the book was only so-so. It's cheap and easy to use an animal as a tear-jerk vehicle, and the writing didn't stand up to a test of excellence. Not bad, just not that good.

Jenny Hilborne Thanks, Donna. I agree about animals being used to manipulate readers emotions. The book just didn't grab me and neither did the movie. Jennifer Aniston is not one of my favorite actresses to watch.
