This book is a fairly good look at forgiveness from most every angle. One thing the author stated that was new to me was that since we are to forgive as God has forgiven us, and since God requires repentance, we don't need to forgive the unrepentant.

Brauns says that we are always to have the posture of forgiveness, but that since forgiveness is a transaction, forgiveness doesn't occur until the other party "opens the package" of your offered forgiveness. I wonder if Brauns confuses forgiveness and reconciliation here, and I also wonder what it would look like to offer a package of forgiveness to someone without forgiveness taking place. That part was a bit confusing for me.
