it was amazing
bookshelves: fiction
Read in September, 2000

This was the first book I read that really made me rethink literature's purpose in society, how it can change the mentality of people that read it. The universality of this book astounds me. I was 14 when I read this book and it probably saved me years of immaturity. I'll definitely reread this a few more times before I die. It has been so long since I've read it that I can't tell you specifically what events in the book changed me but I do recognize that fundamental changes occurred.
