A good, thought-provoking look at how we understand mental health is a cultural construct and how it has changed through time. The author illustrates how the Western view of mental health is spreading to the rest of the world, and explores the influence of drug companies. He highlights anorexia in Hong Kong, depression in Japan, Schizophrenia in Zanzibar, and PTSD in Sri Lanka. Definitely worth a read and worth giving some time for thought, especially if you work or aspire to work in this field.
