History of how the KKK formed and the violence and terror that they carried out in the first years of Reconstruction. Filled with eye witness accounts, historical documents and photographs this is a well researched history for a high school student.

Why I picked it up: Interesting title, wonderful reviews in the library literature and a topic that I wasn't that familiar with.

Why I finished it: I had to read this book a chapter at a time. Not because it was hard to read, but because I had to stop my plans for building a time machine and bring frontier justice to the South. I am so prejudiced against prejudiced people!
