I wasn't sure whether I'd enjoy this series, but found it a very entertaining diversion during a busy week. I couldn't say that it is definitely my view on the end-times (which I confess to be not fully formed), but is certainly plausible and fairly mainstream.

The start of this book was excellent - characters having their own personal dilemmas in the midst of a changing world. I enjoyed reading about people that had never taken Christianity seriously now being challenged by God and becoming totally radical. I particularly liked the doubts and questions - should I take this job? Is this of God? The enemy? Circumstance?

The end part of the book I felt let it down a little - everything was very rushed, and no real time to relate to the characters over significant events. I understood this was so the story didn't drag on, but I rather either a clear summary section (in the previous 18 months, characters x and y did this) or full involvement in the story, rather than the curious mix of the two that occurred. The other problem I had throughout, is that it would suddenly jump from one character to another with no warning, which was a little disorientating.

I will certainly want to continue reading to discover what happens, and feel it's good to make myself think about what my end-time POV is, but it is not a case of rushing out to buy book 3 right now - I'll wait until later.
