This story was, if nothing else, inspirational. There were parts that dragged and made the author seem whiny, but when I read the last page of the book I had tears in my eyes. The connection Matt Long has with his large family and how they banned together after his accident kept me interested. I wanted to read about how his best friend and brother, Jimmy, helped him recover emotionally. Also, how his parents could handle such a traumatic event for their son.
I thought the story spent too much time on the part of Matt's life where he was in rut. Naturally, overcoming his fears and regaining his muscle abilities was a huge theme of the story, but by the time Long began training for the New York Marathon, I was ready for his journey to be over.
The dragging out feeling in the last part of the book made me think I was going to give this book 3 stars, but the ending was so heartwrenching I had to bump up my rating. Fans of people coming together to support a cause and anyone who loves to see the impossible made possible will love how Matt Long's story comes to an end.
