This turned out to be a fascinating story although it was slow going in many places. Set in Salem, MA, this is the story of Towner Whitney. Towner returns to Salem when her beloved Aunt Eva is declared missing. Eva was a lace reader, she could read your future by looking at lace. Towner, like all the Whitney women, is also a seer but the last time she read lace, she saw death and destruction. It led to a deep psychosis for Towner even though she isn't entirely aware of it. What makes the book interesting is the twists and turns of the plot. What make it annoying is the odd changes of POV that seem to occur randomly. I'm not sure we gained anything by seeing the other characters from their own POV. The story was interesting enough that I want to read the sequel.

Kathleen There's a sequel?

Jodi There was supposed to be. I had read it on her web site. But it's no longer listed.

Kathleen Oh, well. It would have been interesting, perhaps.
