** spoiler alert **
The sequel to The Lightning Thief. It delivers the same type of stuff- Greek mythology transported to modern times, humor, and adventure.
It is not hard-hitting literature for children or anything, but it is a fun book. Even though I am older than the intended audience, I still enjoyed it. I can also see why this would be a good book for those pesky "reluctant readers" since it is a fast-paced good time.
I really enjoyed the addition of Tyson's character as he adds another level to the story. It is nice to see that Percy is not as alone as he thought he was. I also thought it was sweet how Tyson made him the watch/shield.
A nice twist ending that brought in a new character (new in the sense that she's not a tree anymore)- Thalia, the daughter of Zeus. Quite an ending. It seemed like a cliff-hanger, but it was well done.
