Steve Five stars? This is The Onion all over again!

Gerry Oh, Steve. I'm going to buy you a copy of Born Standing Up (when it comes out in paperback) and we'll see who will be laughing then!

Wait. That sounds bad, right? I meant that you'll be laughing because Martin is funny.

Steve I just read it and I was very disappointed. And I really wanted to like it! Maybe I was just upset he didn't tell the story of how his hair turned so gray...

Gerry See? That's why we can never have nice things in the house.

I loved it. Martin's a great writer. He never overwrites and is consistently engaging. And funny. Didn't you think this joke was funny: "How many people have never raised their hands before?" Come on, that's comedy gold!

Steve He's definitely engaging. I just don't need to read how the hand raising gag is a comment on his isolation and the dichotomous nature of fame. Can't he just say it's funny that everyone was coked up and he always wore white?

Gerry All right, Steve. Pistols at dawn!

Wait, that's too early. Plus, I have to get up and make breakfast for the girls.

Pistols in the early afternoon! I always aim better after some sushi.

Gerry I saw Steve Martin on Charlie Rose last night. At one point, Martin stared into the camera and mouthed "Steve O. doesn't like the Onion, either. He's weird, right?" I thought it was strange, too.

Steve Did Charlie Rose punctuate each question with a table slap? I think it's to keep the guests awake...
