In this sequel to "Wings", Laurel, a Fall fairy is summoned to Avalon to spend the summer at the Academy learning all things a Fall fairy must learn. While she is there, she gets a crash course in the mores of fairy society. Tamani, a Spring fairy, explains that he is her social inferior and any interaction between them must be initiated by her since she belong to a higher caste than he does. Laurel is also torn because of her previous life in the human world when she was unaware that she had been sent as a changeling to secure the land upon which the gate to Avalon is set. She has a boyfriend, David Lawson,a best friend, Chelsea, and adoptive parents. But she is also being stalked by trolls who will stop at nothing to capture her and the gate. Laurel must also make a decision between Tamani and David. The ending makes a strong case for a third installment. I liked this book better as it went along. The part about her fairy lessons seemed to drag. I definitely think Tamani is a better choice for her than David.
