Hannah Stickland You cant really say that without a reason especially as the book it great

Rosianna I wrote this review three and a half years ago, but all I can say is I read it soon after the really great teen novel Looking for JJ, which is kind of the same theme. I don't like the way Sophie McKenzie writes, to be perfectly honest -- I find it a bit patronising and definitely felt when I first read the book that she was trying to inhabit a teen voice that was entirely unfamiliar and not in the good way. I remember not feeling any sort of allegiance to anyone in the book which is never a good sign and being thoroughly disappointed after it had done so well in awards & such. So there, a little bit of an elaboration on my initial crap review.
