I know some people hate this book because they think it's too pretentious or that the format doesn't really add to the novel, but I disagree. I don't find it pretentious -- it's innovative; someone was going to do what Cortazar did, it's just that he did it first.

Reading this makes me want to have been in the Paris about which he writes and the Buenos Aires for which he harbors such strong feelings.

This novel cannot be summarized by its plot. It must be enjoyed as a strangely mirrored universe unto itself.
