Read in July, 2010 — I own a copy, read count: 1

Chiyo is a clever, quirky girl with unusual eyes and an equally unique way of seeing the world around her. Through tragic circumstances she is forced into the difficult role of becoming a Geisha, whom, through all the hardships and struggling against all odds, manages to grow into a beautiful women and Geisha that has truly underestimated the power of her beauty and the strength of her spirit.

Let me just say that this book was way out of my usual genre. It was suggested to me by many people so I decided to finally read it myself after recommending it to others based on what friends and family thought. I definitely agree, it was very well written and I liked it even more than I thought I would. Definitely one of my favorites now and everyone should give this a try, even if you think it's something you wouldn't typically like, you might be surprised.
