Sarah Booth and Tinkie are on the case again...

and the men in Sarah's life... she had 3 potential suitors, Scott, Bridge, & Coleman.

Ivory Keys - a black man, a blues musician, owner of a blues club, older gentleman who had spent some time in jail, with a belief that music would cross the barriers between black & white, and he had 21 albums of a jam session with Elvis before he was the famous Elvis... his grown son, Emmanual, felt 2nd to his father's music, and abandoned, and in his rebellion took up the opposite way of his father, pushing black rights against the white oppression, and wanting nothing to do his father or his father's legacy... and he had gifted the albums to his son with the hope that when he listened to them his perspective would change... Ida Mae, his faithful wife, who gave up her music to a parent and to support her husband's music,& dream, tolerating his unfaithfulness and his jail time, loving him through it all...

Scott, born into money, rebelled by drugs & going into entertainment... a rap singer, whose lyrics were very antiblack... jailed for drugs, joined the white gang, for protection... met Ivory, learned to play the piano, saved Ivory's life, and when they got out, he went with Ivory, playing in his club, and becoming a 2nd son to him... buying into Ivory's dream, bringing people into the club as his fame and skill grew... two of his white gang prison buddies show up in town, and Scott does not ask them to leave as he feels a degree of loyalty to them for their protection in jail, and guilt that they didn't have his advantages... and Sarah is attracted to him, and he shows her his sensitive side... and they have sex a couple of times, in part perhaps, because he would be moving on with his music...

And Bridge, rich, Tinkie & Oscar's friend, blues music collector, charming... flirts with Sarah... but his ultimate goal is the records and/or club... and he stays over at Cece's... hmmmm

And Coleman, the sheriff, has gone back to his wife and is avoiding Sarah... and Sarah does her very best to respect it, understand it, and to avoid him... his warmth & strength wrap around her a few times, and he stands between her & Bridge and/or Scott... and at the end, his wife tells them she's pregnant, she wants to work on things, and they leave for a cruise...

Ivory is killed, beaten and stabbed with a prison shank, in his club, and the club is torn up... the shank & $3,000 are found in Scott's motorcycle side bags, so he is arrested... and Ida Mae hires Sarah to prove his innocence....

And using one of Ivory's records (broadcasting it via the local radio station), she lets people know that she is going to return the albums to Scott, hoping to lead the murderer (she thinks it's probably Bridge with the help of the two prison buddies) to his house to make a confession - which she records & has on the phone with Coleman... and though Bridge shows up, he is not guilty, but the two prison buddies are...

And Emmanuel, who heard the record on the radio while in jail has time to reflect, and for the first time feels his father's dream & reconciles with his mother - selling the club & the records to Bridge... Scott goes to the big cities to play his music... and Coleman leaves... Sarah has Jitty, Tinkie, Sweetie Pie (her dog), Reveler (her horse)... And most important, Dahlia House...
