A bit of an attempted palate cleanser. Sara Varon's art is serenely cute and colorful, and she largely succeeds visually to tell a very slight story of the year in the lives of a robot and its dog owner... lives that are largely separate after the robot rusts during a trip to the beach. Ultimately I felt more like the dog was incredibly irresponsible and borderline completely unsympathetic (and the robot too saccharine to emphasize with), but it zips by too fast to really offend. The really cynical part of me thinks the whole deal would be better suited for art for tin pencil boxes. Cute is an excellent marketing point. Rating: 2 stars
