** spoiler alert **
Long story short; this book feels "churned out." They wanted a sequel and someone gave the writer a stupid unbelievable plot with a few added characters that weren't likable, and I had a very hard time swallowing why Kaylee put not only her life on the line, but Nash's as well (you don't do that to someone you love) to help them out. I don't think I will be reading the other books; the author has completely lost me.
When I read the first book I LOVED it. Nash and Kaylee's story was new and beautiful; the story was gripping and exciting and there was a lot of depth to all the characters. This book disappointed on almost all levels. The love birds have advanced to more making out and less talking, dating, having fun and generally getting to know each other better; which considering the time line from the ending of the last story seems too much to fast. Also the author introduced the characters in the first book, gave them depth and let you get attached to them; this one a few new characters were introduced; none of them were memorable, or even likable really and all the original characters from the first book were even lacking in substance this time around. It seems the man that actually raised Kaylee is completely missing from this book, while her cousin actively hates her now and none of that is remotely explored in this book. Both these things are just left hanging and makes the book feel unfinished to me. Plus, as said before the new characters are not remotely likable and WHY on earth is she putting her life and Nash's life on the line for a spoiled rich brat who sold her soul to the "hellion" is beyond me! There is no reason for it, she questions it herself and we are left with "because I have to" which is completely unsubstantiated; no one even likes these new characters except Tod, which is also beyond me, or the writers ability to make real.
