** spoiler alert ** A very interesting start to the series. I admit it actually took me awhile to get into it. I'm not a big fan of the world, to be perfectly honest. I like Rose and Dimitri a lot, but I have a hard time really getting into the whole devotion that the dhampir's have to the moari. It seems like slave labor. Also, I had a hard time liking Lissa, she seems rather weak, her best moments is when she stops leaning so much on Rose and took things in her own hands. I also hate that the main reason Rose and Dimitri can't be together is their loyalty to Lissa, especially since Lissa is going to have Christian and Rose can't have the guy she wants. Also, the whole high school aspect had me soo glad that I got out of that place alive and with a diploma. It was good enough though, that I shall carry on and will read the next book in the series.
