I love Jean Ferris, and this book is why. I have read it so many times, and every time I do I find myself laughing out loud. I think this book would appeal to the same type of people who enjoy a good Cary Grant romantic comedy like Bringing Up Baby. It's got the zany rich folks living next door to a sanatorium for the "slightly distracted" relatives of other rich people, evil uncles, a very fat cat, and a chicken named (what else?) Attila the Hen. The first time I read this I was quite young, but upon picking it up again recently I was thrilled to find it lost none of its appeal.
