I take this book as proof that sometimes the movie eclipses the book on which it is based. To its credit, this book delves into ideas that are largely absent from Ridley Scott's movie Bladerunner, but I'm not a fan of sci fi novels that are driven exclusively by ideas -- if I had wanted to read philosophy I would have done so. My single biggest complaint about Dick in general is that he loses sight of that one objective -- keeping my interest. Okay, my TWO biggest complaints about Dick in general are 1) he doesn't keep my interest, 2) he forgets why I should care.

I'll skip any Python-esque devolution and say that I class him with Ayn Rand -- possessed of some interesting ideas, but otherwise a terrible writer. I may pick this title up again to refine my conclusions...but I'm not feeling any great need to do so right now.
