I picked this one up because of Haven. Not sure how they turned this into that show but there’s little resemblance. This is not necessarily a bad thing. This is truthfully a novella and honestly, not a very interesting one. Mr. King was worried that people wouldn’t like it because it’s open ended. To me, that wasn’t really that bad since it’s an unsolved mystery and you know that going in.

Steffi is a young intern working in a small newspaper on Moose-Lookit Island off the coast of Maine. She’s working with Dave and Vince, one is 70 and the other is 90 years young. After a dinner with a Boston Globe reporter who is interested in unsolved New England mysteries, the two old men start telling Steffi about their very own unsolved mystery.

And that is the rest of the story, the three of them sitting in an office telling a story. It’s so very static that it was hard to keep engaged. It wasn’t horrible but it certainly wasn’t that interesting. There is no mystery here really since it’s all over with 20 years prior. The Colorado Kid was found on the beach apparently having choked to death. The truly weird stuff doesn’t appear until nearly the end and I can’t talk about to them in the review without ruining the few surprises. The upshot is the characters are likeable but it’s not much of a mystery. It is however a quick read.
