bookshelves: erotica, did-not-finish
Read from September 01 to 19, 2011

Just....weird!!! The stories aren't well written, and each main character is just as bland and generic as the next. And the "erotica" aspect...

The Enchanted Forrest involves a woman alone in a sexy forest. With sexy tree roots. And flowers with long stamens.
Disenchantment have you ever fantasized about getting it on with a hot guy then biting his head off? No? Best to skip this one...
Dying for It adds nothing to the vampire genre. Boring.
Expecting alien probes and tentacle sex.
Flowers for Angela psychotherapy and submission.
Jimmy sexy, invisible ghost
The Incentive Program time travel, voyeurism...possibly sex with multiple partners or group sex. Not quite sure because after being disappointed and skimming throughout the rest of this novel, I stopped reading this one pretty early in. This is the last story in the collection and appears to be as poorly written as the rest.

A more talented author may make oddball stories hawt and fascinating in a quirky, unique way. Nancy Madore is not that author. Not much to say without bashing her, which really isn't my intent. My advice is to skip this one entirely.

Tatiana Hmm, all effort must have gone into cover art.

Megan The cover is the best thing about this book!

K. "Sexy tree roots"? I really can't...

Wendy Darling Sexy...tree roots? Tentacle sex? o _ O

K. Well, actually Wendy, I can work my imagination around the "tentacle sex" but maybe its because I have a particularly dirty mind ;)

Its the "sexy tree roots"...like I said, I just can't.

Megan There were also sexy butterflies, flower vines.... it makes me wonder how many people had my "wtf" reaction, and how many people thought, "Finally, someone who understands me!!" lol

Tatiana Sexy butterflies? How exactly does that work?!

Megan She is held down by vines while a "multitude of butterflies produced a rainbow of lush, colorful activity between her trembling thighs. But they were gracious and well-mannered; they did not battle over the sumptuous meal that was spread out before them. Rather, they each in turn feasted elegantly and leisurely..."

Do butterfly encounters count as bestiality? I'll have to google insect sex & see if there is even a term for it, lol

Tatiana Hm... Too "elegant" for my taste in smut:)

Megan Ah-ha! "formicophilia" new word of the day ;)

Too elegant and odd!

K. I don't know. I guess there is something erotic with being ravaged by nature...

Nancy Your review makes me slightly curious.

Nancy I checked the author's website, and she claims to write "female-friendly erotica". This worries me a little, because how could an author know what every single woman wants? Women are quite diverse, just like men are. Are these stories more romance-based?

message 14: by Megan (new) - rated it 1 star

Megan More than anything, I felt they were long winded. As if the author wanted to establish a scene, tone & background.. you know, porn with a plot, lol. Perhaps that is what she mean by female friendly? It didn't work for me though. The problem with this collection is that while the ideas themselves may be original, the writing isn't very strong. It was all very tell, rather than show. Rather than a distinctive tone or voice for each story they all sounded exactly the same. with such freaky ideas, the writing has to be so much better than this to pull them off.

If you want to read this, message me your addy & I will send it to you. I only bought this cause I was curious and of course my local library doesn't carry it ;)
