really liked it
bookshelves: teaching

A quick read and inspiring to my writing.

I also used excerpts from this book in a lit. and film class I taught; the parts I used were specifically in reference to genre and formula. I used the chapter about the formula the creators of the "Roadrunner" cartoons used to create a cartoon that people enjoy, meeting their expectations and applied it to the formula in horror films--why it works, why it doesn't, etc. This went over very well.
