This is J.R.R. Tolkein's The Hobbit adapted as a graphic novel. Some of the adventures are left out, but a whole lot of the original story remains.
For anyone who still doesn't have a clue what that is, here is my grossly simplistic summary:

It is the story of a Hobbit (simple, comfort seeking short beings with hairy feet) named Bilbo Baggins and how he is taken on countless adventures, where he discovers that his innate goodness and courage will get him through. It is the prequel to the Lord of The Rings.

The graphic novel version features A LOT of tiny text and elaborate illustrations. I found that the images did not help tell the story. They are colorful and beautifully laid out, but every page is packed. This could be confusing to readers who are not familiar with reading graphic novels.
I would like to read this with my middle schoolers but I feel like they will have to start with something simpler like, the Bone series.
The story still entertained me regardless. It's got adventure!!! It's got magic!!
