Well, what can I say about this novel? I thought that it was pretty great, actually! There were things that I never would've guessed and such painfully obvious things that mixed all together, and they somehow fit. You know how in most books, you know what the dude is and then they say it out loud after the first fifty to a hundred pages? Well, this wasn't like that...You actually get told at the very end of the book. This may seem very akward to most people, but I found it nice. I liked the way that Delany built up to what the dude was instead of saying "Hey guys, Pietr is a...." I mean, I knew what he was, as do the rest of the people who reach page five, but I liked it that she didn't. I thought that there were some really really nice parts and then parts that made me want to pull me hair out. For example, Pietr's all like: "I like you, do you like me, too?" See, the thing is, in most young adult books, I don't like the painfully obvious stated, but Pietr was famous for the painfully obvious according to our protagonist--Jess. However, that seemed a little bit on the children's side of the book, but there were definetly parts that made me say: "Ooops...This is definetly a teen book!" Over all, though, I felt Delany did a great job at saving herself with that "I like you" thing! A wonderful novel-can't wait til the sequel!
