It was SO good, I wish I could have savored it, but of course I had to gobble it up and now I wish I it wasn't over. I think it was a very good installment of the series, and played out the themes that had been building throughout to their logical and painful end.

I've been thinking about it, and this final installment reminded me of the Ender's Game/Ender's Shadow series a lot, though with more negative views on war. Some people don't or wont like the ending, but to me it is the way it had to be and the way the characters would want it. I think that with all the action that goes on in the books it is easy to think that is what the characters want, but it reminds me of a point in Ender's Game where he Ender goes to this lake and doesn't want to leave. Just because Katniss and Peeta have been at the center of the action in these books doesn't mean that is what they want, whereas Gale always wanted to be and do more. This installment develops Gale's character a lot.
