Deep South (Anna Pigeon, #8)
by Nevada Barr
by Nevada Barr
This was my first Anna Pigeon Mystery. I found it almost impossible to put down. I had heard of Nevada Barr previously, but never read her stuff. When the National Parks show from Ken Burns came on PBS, I found out that she worked for the NPS and that most of her books were set in a National Park Setting, I got interested enough to go see what was in the library.
I'm pleased with my decision! I got the oldest one that this particular library had, and I hope the have the next one in the series! The mix of mystery and personal stuff seems ideal. The mystery part opened well and was developed well, and that enabled me to figure it out before the main character did, but not so much before that it made the character seem slow.
Recommended!

Try to read some of the earlier books, the first 3 were slower but then they picked up, firestorm and blind descent were amazing like deep south and I had a really hard time putting them down. You can always find the books on Amazon for pennys plus shipping, its a great deal and so worth the read.
