Wow....what a book. Since I read the last book I wanted to read it and it didnt disappoint. I loved Zarek and Astrids story. To be fair I think that Zarek was written better but that tends to be the case in these types of books. Accused of a crime by Artemis, Astrid is brought in by Archeron to judge whether he should live or die. Zareks past was the stuff of nightmares. Disowned by his parents and used a whipping boy it was pretty much cemented in my head that he was the way he was because of his past. What was more heartbreaking was the way he was treated by all his fellow Dark hunters (barr Jess and Archeron) which made me hate them a little. He couldnt deal with human touch because he had only been touched to be hurt and he wasnt social because, during his human life, he hadnt been talked to and when he became a darkhunter they isolated him in the Artic. To be honest it made me cry a little. I knew that he would get his HEA but couldnt see how Astrid was going to judge him innocent because he literally couldnt be nice! She started to see past the gruff exterior and it all started to unravel nicely. I particulary enjoyed her werewolf companion who brought some much needed humour to this story.
