Read from August 09 to 12, 2010

Gabriel Allon is enjoying retirement on the Cornish coast when he is contacted by Julian Isherwood and asked for help in recovering a Rembrandt that was stolen from the restorer working in it. The restorer was some one Gabriel knew in the past and because Julian was going to be out a large amount of money, he hadn’t insured the painting, Gabriel agrees to look into finding the painting. In researching the paintings history Gabriel discovers that it has a checkered past involving Nazi officers and the robbery of Jewish victims of the Holocaust and the illegal actions of a certain Swiss Banker. The simple search for the painting turns into a much larger and more sinister affair involving murder, traffic in proscribed material with Iran and the unmasking of Bankers actions. Its another series that I enjoy reading and this was no exception.
