My four stars is based on it being a young adult book. This is a simple, matter-of-fact look at a young girls experiences during China's Cultural Revolution. It reads like nonfiction and that is partly due to the fact that much of the story is based on the author's true life experiences. I will definitely give this book to my kids to read when they are teens.
