Like many addiction memoirs, this one is impossible to put down. Beautifully written. It is hard to imagine how much this guy's friends went through before he found his way back. The episodic structure jumped around, but it is a miracle he could remember anything. One complaint is that he was very coy about sex, especially compared to the lengthy, repetitive and detailed descriptions of drug use. Often sex is described in a couple words, such as "we have sex" and then another hundred words on the "stem" used to smoke crack. Perhaps this reflects the author's priorities at the time: crack important, people not so much.
