81568 I'll be interested on your take on this. I was enthralled at first but had to work at finishing it.

34677 Returned to the library, unfinished. Sigh. I wanted to love this, but at about page 400, I finally realized it wasn't going to grab me enought to put in another 500 pages. I liked the setup and the mood, but it was just too slow.

81568 Yeah, I felt the same way, except since I was lazing around unemployed when I read it, I had the time to force myself to finish it. One of those days where you get up, open the book, and decide not to move until you finish the damn thing. I liked the setup and mood as well, and I kept hoping that it would pick up pace again but it just didn't. But I do have to say that the characterization was incredible and the details and description put me in the Arctic (even though I was reading it near the equator.)
