really liked it

I read a trilogy by Libba Bray two years ago and loved it! She is a young adult author, but interesting for adults too so I was keen to read her newest title when it came out this summer. This is a total satire - and if I was teaching high school I htink I would photocopy a chapter for my class to read to understand exactly what is meant by satire! At first I wasn't sure if I would like it as it was the typical dumb beauty queens crash on a tropical islant,"Oh no, what will I do without my hair dryer" type situation. Then, however, things started to get interesting as you found out a little more about the girls, why they were in the pageant, what they really believed and wanted. Libba does a GREAT job with putting all sorts of comments and similarities from the real world into their story - it really makes you think about beauty, commercialism, society's expectations..... a FUN read!
