** spoiler alert ** Up to this point this is my most favorite story in the Dark Hunter series, and has earned a place on my coveted "fantasy-loves" bookshelf. This is why:

Not only is Wren a leopard-tiger (tigard) who can be a human, but he is still young (what I would call college age, nothing like having a protagonist my own age) and smoldering in a not-so-pretty-boy way (unlike all the other dark hunters). When Maggie falls for him, he is a busboy, with dreadlocks and filthy clothes at Sanctuary. She doesn't know his Katagari half, due to her being human. And they are not mates immediately.

Including in that, Maggie isn't afraid of Wren in any of his animal forms (oh I want to turn into a tiger so badly!) and she definitely grows a backbone in the story. It isn't until the end where they have to confront all odds (no supernatural menace this time, just good ol' "human" stuff, which makes for a nice change) including Maggie's father.

I will be rereading this book for a while to come. Go sexy and sleek tigers!
