Had I known what this book was about I never would have taken it off the shelf. Thank goodness for the "As Heard on NPR" bookmark sticking up from the book and my having read and liked her earlier book Dogs of Babel. Otherwise, I would have missed a book I enjoyed immensely and a most interesting format. The book is a mystery and story of a mother and child relationship told through the protaganist, an author, rewriting the endings to several of her already published books. The plots of the various books are revealed in short story format, one I normally don't like but found very compelling. The writing is crisp and the story most engaging. I can't do the book justice here, just read it. I know that even if you don't really love it as I did, you will surely not forget it.
