What can I say? I was at an airport, facing 3 hours of flying and a couple of hours wait time in the Phoenix airport. Plus they have this new airport bookstore benefit, where you get 50% refund when you bring the book back. This is a horrible book. A wealthy man is murdered in an elevator with his supposed mistress Julie, and Derek, a defense attorney becomes involved with the elite family which includes the murdered man’s nephew. Creighton, a narcissist who just might be a psychopath. No cares about these characters, and they act in uncharacteristic ways, like Derek loving and doubting Julie over and over. She tries to spice things up with some titillating language and scenes. She tries to make a red herring but throws that away half way through the turgid 489 pages. So don’t read this book, unless you have a 3 hour plane ride and a two hour wait between planes and can get 50% of the price back.
