I thought this was a fun, fresh look at vampires with some pretty unique ideas. I love the idea of vampires not being the idealized super-humans on TV and instead having serious concerns and problems. However, while the book was interesting, I didn't think that the writing somehow brought it together completely or perhaps it's just a good-not-great book. It's hard to describe, but somehow the writing itself just seemed a little young, or immature. While the group of characters was confusing and difficult to clearly fit into the picture, they did come together by the end and had appropriate resolution for their roles. I think that the author could maybe work on how the book is framed so that the set up is a little more inviting and clear. It does do a very good job of portraying some very whiny vampires without making them so obnoxious that one can't eventually come to appreciate their position by the end of the book.
