I love steampunk, and this book is the absolute perfect example of what's great about the genre. A lovely alternate history set as WWI begins, with the Central Powers ("Clankers") having developed mosterous war machines and the Allies ("Darwinists") fabricating beasts to do their bidding. Characters stand third in importance after the cool beasts and machines and the engaging historical timeline.
